OUR STORY

THE PAST

In 2011, it was clear to founder Joshua Williams, that the fashion industry was experiencing the first rumbles of disruption. E-Commerce was no longer seen as an add-on to a company’s marketing strategy, but rather a necessary distribution channel. Social media had changed how we communicate and engage with one-another, including customers, and companies were struggling to meet the demand for content while managing their costs. Smartphones were still in their infancy (the iPhone launched in 2007), but were already changing how, when and where customers engaged with brands. Large corporate brands were struggling to restructure their operations, and felt out-of-synch, with digital native consumers. Small, entrepreneurial companies were lithe and technologically savvy, building brand awareness in record time, but didn’t have the experience in scaling a business with such a complicated supply chain. The competition was fierce for both small and large companies equally to adapt to new customer demands, or go out of business. Joshua recognized the importance of this market “tipping point” and decided to open an agency to facilitate this change directly. Over the past decade, Fashion Consort has developed an international client base that includes Jude Connally, Miguelina, Andrew Marc, JM and Anne Valerie Hash.

THE FUTURE

In 2019, Fashion Consort shifted course again, to better support the wide range of business models and innovations at play in the fashion industry. Building on his many years as a professor at FIT and then Parsons School of Design, Joshua determined that there was a need for new educational content and training services, developed specifically for fashion industry professionals and students. Armed with theoretical knowledge, practical examples and new skills, organizations can make empowered decisions more lithely. From keynote presentations to customized group training sessions and personal consulting sessions, clients of all sizes can learn everything from basic to advance techniques in brand and business development, operational and systems development, marketing strategies, experiential retailing and consumer engagement. This is all supported by digital content development services that range from podcast production to online learning modules.
