The Agency

In 2011, it was clear to founder Joshua Williams, that the fashion industry was experiencing the first rumbles of disruption. E-Commerce was no longer seen as an add-on to a company’s marketing strategy, but rather a necessary distribution channel. Social media had changed how we communicate and engage with one-another, including customers, and companies were struggling to meet the demand for content while managing their costs. Smartphones were still in their infancy (the iPhone launched in 2007), but were already changing how, when and where customers engaged with brands. Large corporate brands were struggling to restructure their operations, and felt out-of-synch, with digital native consumers. Small, entrepreneurial companies were lithe and technologically savvy, building brand awareness in record time, but didn’t have the experience in scaling a business with such a complicated supply chain. The competition was fierce for both small and large companies equally to adapt to new customer demands, or go out of business. Joshua recognized the importance of this market “tipping point” and decided to open an agency to facilitate this change. Over the past decade, Joshua has developed an international client base that includes Jude Connally, Miguelina, Andrew Marc, JM, Adornia and Anne Valerie Hash.

Fashion Consort represents a team of experts that facilitate everything from business plan and brand development, operational and systems strategy, marketing and communications programs, creative and art direction, and experiential retail design implementation. Projects have focused on internal development (ie., team building, training and restructuring; product and service development), B2B (ie., wholesale sales plans, showrooms and trade shows) and direct-to-consumer (retail channels, marketing campaigns, and events).

PRESIDENT / PARTNER

Joshua Williams

New York City Office

Joshua is an experienced fashion creative director, business executive and educator. He is proud of his ability to equally balance the creative and business needs of a company and believes that developing integrated cross-departmental solutions, systems and teams, are essential to the success of a brand. As a omni-channel retailing and marketing expert, Joshua is particularly adept at negotiating the complex needs of a brand’s sales distribution strategy across multiple platforms, ensuring optimal and authentic customer engagement and coordinated marketing support. This necessitates a deep understanding of the fashion global supply chain, emerging technologies and an ever changing marketplace.

Joshua began his career as a writer, composer and director of original theater productions in New York City and Europe. It is with ease that he transferred his theater skills to the fashion industry, first producing a fashion show to raise money for Vh1 Save the Music, and then styling fashion editorials for international magazines such as West East and Dossier Journal.

In 2016, Joshua accepted his first executive-level position as Director of Corporate Branding and Online Retailing at J.McLaughlin. While there, he was responsible for rebranding the company across all channels, as well a developing and implementing an e-commerce strategy that led to 150% growth in online sales. In 2008, Joshua became the Vice President of Marketing of Lindsay Phillips, a footwear start-up. His responsibilities included developing a business and consumer marketing strategy that supported the growth of the company from under a million to $24 million in three years.

Joshua has taught as an adjunct professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology since 2018. He has developed and taught three graduate level course for the Global Fashion Management (MPS) and Fashion Design (MFA) programs. He was the host of the weekly lecture series, Faces & Places in Fashion, featuring iconic fashion innovators. Joshua has been a guest lecturer and instructor for LIM (New York City), Gateway (Telemark, Norway), EAFIT (Medellin & Bogota, Colombia), Milano Fashion Institute (Milan, Italy), ISEM (Madrid, Spain) and University of Navarre (Pamplona, Spain). From 2013 to 2018, Joshua served as the chair of the Fashion Merchandising Management program at Berkeley College, responsible for creating and managing an updated fashion curriculum for 1,000+ students across nine campuses.

In 2019, Joshua accepted a position as Assistant Professor at Parsons, The New School, as part of the newly created Fashion Management master’s degree program. Joshua is the co-founder and acting Chief Branding Officer of QueerCut, a radically inclusive online marketplace.

Lavinia Di Renzo

Paris, France Office

Lavinia is a consummate strategic and operational marketing specialist, equally at ease working with multi-national corporations as well as with small, entrepreneurial businesses. Fluent in three languages—Italian, French and English—she excels at developing and managing teams, projects and campaigns on an international scale. Whether it’s negotiating complex commercial partnerships, recruiting and training cross-functional teams, or developing sales plans and distribution strategies, she is dedicated to maximizing results for her clients.

Lavinia began her career at Generali Italia as Head of Service, developing new sales networks and attaining a 1 million euro turnover. She negotiated commercial agreements with the National Institute of Environmental Protection, Italian Trade Union (CISAL) and National Sports Federation. In 2014, she relocated to Paris where she became the Marketing Manager at AXA France, focused on developing commercial partnerships, managing teams and coordinating cross-channel teams. She was promoted to Communications Manager in 2015, where she managed the digital transformation of the company’s sales force an optimized network communications and support strategies for the company. Additionally, she created and implemented a broad communications plan for AXA savings and investment diversification offers, and organized monthly sales force training to support the plan.

Before joining Fashion Consort, Lavinia worked with small fashion businesses to develop their marketing and communications strategies, with a focus on digital distribution and engagement. Clients included beauty company Ormaie Paris and ready-to-wear brand ELMC. Additionally, she has collaborated on marketing strategies for Laurence Tavernier, Yves Saint Laurent and Le Coq Sportif. Her passion for beautiful, thoughtful design and straightforward, unfussy communication comes through in her personal and professional life.

Isabella Dawn Notaro

Isabella is a lifestyle brand specialist, with an ability to successfully navigate clients through the complex stages of brand development, launch and customer engagement, in order to achieve a competitive advantage and market impact.

Listening to her client’s needs, Isabella incorporates their ideas, along with industry innovations, to establish a brand’s cohesive visual identity, value systems and market placement across physical and digital channels, including social media. Applying A-Z testing, retail consumer psychology and market research, she is adept at formulating strategies that engage customers authentically—with a personal touch—whether it’s for a public relations events, pop up shops, trade shows or permanent retail spaces. Her strategic, mission-oriented approach also drives her passion to develop unique branded content that engages consumers across all channels.

Isabella’s 15+ years of professional experience in the commercial fashion industry, as a stylist, art director and personal shopper, includes clients such as Estee Lauder, Smirnoff, Marie Claire, Billboard, Glamour, Style Network, E! and Bravo TV. She has a decade of experience in owning and and operating brick and mortar retail operations, as well as experience in transitioning retail operations into online retail and omni-channel operations. Over the past five years, she has developed digitally born niche fashion start ups, and honed her craft and expertise as a digital marketer. She has led and safeguarded quality assurance for international exploratory campaigns, manufacturing and photo shoots.

Isabella enjoys working hand-in-hand with charities to give community support for inclusion and anti-bullying in the art, fashion and digital communities.
